• Ray's Biography

Since moving to the Tampa Bay area in 1976, Ray Biscoglia has established himself as a prominent businessman and jazz pianist and has been very involved in the local community. Largely self-taught, Ray's first exposure to music came about as a child when his father gave him an accordion. Ray's natural ability for keyboard theory blossomed, and shortly thereafter he graduated onto the organ and ultimately the piano. By high school, Ray had already begun playing gigs at local venues in his native Atlanta. It was his passion and innate affinity for performing live music that eventually helped Ray earn his way through school. In 1972 he obtained a Master's of Actuarial Science from Georgia State University.

Ray's career as a businessman spanned over three decades in the Clearwater area. During his career, Ray's appreciation for music and his community never faded, and he took pride in supporting local artists and businesses in a multitude of ways. Ray served on the Board of Clearwater Jazz Holiday for several years and for most of that time was chairman of the Music Selection Committee. This involvement was supplemented artistically when he performed at the Festival.

In 2008 Ray decided to retire from the Insurance industry. With his newly discovered free time, Ray occupies himself by, among other activities, playing piano in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota areas. Ray's personality and passion for life are perhaps most clearly demonstrated through his musical performance. His style is unique and may most aptly be classified as "straight ahead jazz". Ray frequently collaborates with various notable local jazz musicians who have also established themselves as Bay area jazz strongholds. His music adds an intimate ambiance and level of sophistication to any atmosphere.

Ray and his wife Kathy live in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
